Prof. Djamchid Momtaz

Professor Emeritus of International Law at University of Tehran

Djamchid Momtaz is Professor Emeritus of International Law at University of Tehran. He served as member of the UN International Law Commission between 2000 and 2006 and chaired it in 2005-2006. He is a member of Institut de droit international and of the Group pf International Advisors of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC). His membership includes also the Curatorium of the Hague Academy of International Law, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and the Commission for the Settlement of the Disputes related to the Confidentiality of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He serves as Judge ad hoc in two pending cases before ICJ, namely Alledged Violations of the 1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations and Consular Rights (Iran v. USA) and Certain Iranian Assets (Iran v. USA).
